Good to know
- The UFI code (Unique Formula Identifier) is a 16-character code made from your VAT number and a formulation number. It appears on the label of hazardous mixtures sold in the EU and refers to the formula you have notified to the poison centres.
- You assign the formulation number yourself. Each formula gets its own number. Same formula, same UFI code.
- If the composition changes more than Annex VIII of the CLP Regulation allows, you need a new UFI code and an updated notification.
- Without an EU VAT number you can obtain a company key from ECHA and use it instead of the VAT number.
- You can also generate the UFI code on the ECHA website. The result is the same.
A UFI code alone is not enough. EU law requires the poison centre notification; only then can your formula be retrieved in an emergency. We are happy to submit this notification for you.
